Hitchhiking

For adventurous travellers with a tight budget, there is still the option of hitchhiking. Many of our guests have already hitchhiked without any problems. However, keep in mind that you are still in Honduras. Pay attention to your surroundings and your own intuition. Chances are good to find someone who can at least get out of the jungle, because there is only one way out - it is only a matter of time.

Buses To and Out of La Ceiba

We recommended Transporte Cristina for travel to and from San Pedro Sula or Tegucigalpa. It is inexpensive and safe. The main bus terminal is where they Depart/Arrive in SPS and where you can connect with the Casasola Express (Copan). Heading to Copan, the last busses are: 1:00 and 3:00 pm so you need to get the 8:30 am Transporte Cristina out of La Ceiba. The El Mochito bus to D & D Brewery also connect in the SPS main bus terminal and heading to the lake, run every 1/2 hr until 5:00 pm

Please note: if you are coming from Copan, even if you take the 4 am departure and connect with the 11:15 am Transporte Cristina bus out of SPS. The trip from SPS to La Ceiba is 4.45 - 5.15 hrs long.  so please be aware you will not get here early enough to catch the last local bus and therefore please ask us in advance to arrange transport and plan to have to pay for private transport. We do try to put travellers together to share the cost so ask us if anyone else is coming up.
